Next SLMG Book Circle book:

The next book club selection is Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng. Meeting will be November 29th. Remember no pressure to finish (start?) by then and just because you can’t make it to one meeting doesn’t mean you’re not welcome at the next one!

The Drifter by Christine Lennon

Bookclub this past week was a success and thank you so much to our hosts.  The Drifter by Christine Lennon has been chosen as our next book and the date for the meeting will be April 19th.   Remember –  you don’t have to read the book to attend.  It’s a great opportunity to get together and chat with other great women!

meaningofmichelleThe Meaning of Michelle

Book club! Or… Wine club? If you are intimidated by the idea of a book club, don’t be! Not a single person had finished the book last time. 😂But it’s always a great time with SLMG girls! Next up: “The Meaning of Michelle” 16 essays by well known American authors on the inspirational Michelle Obama. Hopefully we can all get through this one! 📖🍷

donotsaywehavenothingNext SLMG Book Club – January 18, 2017

Thank you to our hosts this week of book club and our new book has been picked: “Do Not Say We Have Nothing” by Madeleine Thien. “Do Not Say We Have Nothing begins at the end, so to speak. It is a gorgeous intergenerational saga, stretching as far back at the 1940s and traversing China from Beijing in the north to rural Guangxi in the south, but Madeleine Thien’s narrator speaks to us from present-day Vancouver.” Source Globe & Mail June 10, 2016.  We will be announcing the date asap.

zoewhittallOur next book is The Best Kind of People by Zoe Whittall.  It was a Scotiabank Giller Prize finalist, one of Indigo’s Books of the Year and after reading the description it even makes a non-reader like me get excited.  Not to hype it too much, but I think it’s going to be a good read.  The next Book Club meeting will take place on Wednesday November 30th at 8pm.  Location TBD.

slmgthenestcynthiaThe first book club will be on Wednesday October 26th and we will be reading The Nest by Cynthia D’Aprix Sweeney. Location TBD
