Playgroups are the heart and soul of the SLMG. They are the best way to get to know other members, to make new, possibly lifelong, friends, and to connect with other moms at the same stage as you in this adventure called motherhood.
How do they work?
We set you up in a playgroup with about five to eight other moms whose baby/toddler/preschooler is around the same age as your child. Essentially, it’s a weekly playdate coordinated by the SLMG.You all decide on a time that works for you to meet each week and alternate who hosts the playgroup on a week by week basis.
If you don’t think you are able to host that number of moms and children, or if you live outside of the neighbourhood and don’t think that people will want to travel to your house, don’t worry! Maybe instead of physically hosting the playgroup, you can provide the coffee and snacks at another member’s house when it’s your turn to host.
The point of playgroups is to have a set weekly playdate that is fun for you as well as for your child.
And, if for whatever reason, your playgroup doesn’t work out, please contact the playgroup organizers to see if something can be rearranged. It is our hope that every member of the SLMG who wants to be in a playgroup is in a playgroup! They’re the best!
