September 30, 2019 – Andy Elder, Grill Time, Fiona Boylan, COBBS Bread, Graham Linton, Interior Care


After being in the Food and Restaurant business for 30 years, Andy decided to open up Grill Time, a Leaside Staple for the last 10 years. A community minded man, Andy has been showing Leasiders how to have a stress free gathering of friends and family, with good food and a good laugh. 

This year, Andy is joined by Fiona of Cobbs Bread and Graham of Interior care to discuss being a local business in Leaside with a Community Focus. 

Fiona has owned the COBS on Bayview for almost 10 years, so while she lives on the Danforth, having fed the community and employed so many of its high school students over the years, she feels like an honorary Leasider.  

Graham is a partner with Interior Care Limited and celebrating his 40th year in the industry. He has been living in the Leaside community since 2001 and the Interior Care head office and plant has been in the Leaside industrial park since 1986. Graham is a father of 2 and dog father to 1 4 year old Cockapoo.

All attendees to this meeting with be treated to delicious Cobbs Treats thanks to Fiona and a Spot Bottle Kit and Coupon for service thanks to Graham!

October 7, 2018 – Samantha Reynolds, Happy Parents, Happy Children


After losing a full-term baby girl and then welcome a son two years later, Samantha and her husband felt unprepared for the stressors, intense emotions and chaos a baby brings to a relationship. They went from feeling like a loving couple to living like quarreling roommates within months and their relationship was more fragile than ever. After taking the Gottman “Bringing Home Baby Course” her husband and her found the simple tools and get them back to connecting and communicating meaningfully again; something that is easy to forget in our busy lives with children.

Samantha has now taken many elements from the “Bringing Baby Home” course, as well as from the Gottman “Emotion Coaching” course and added some of her own researched information and created the course “Happy Parents, Happy Children, How To Keep Your Friendship While Raising A Young Family”.


Samantha is generously giving away Gottman’s book on emotion coaching for children and also 20% off her October workshop.

October 21, 2019 – Audrey Rastin, Boost Child and Youth Advocacy Centre


Audrey Rastin is the Director of Prevention Education at Boost Child & Youth Advocacy Centre. She has worked at Boost CYAC for over 20 years designing and delivering trauma-informed, violence prevention programming for children and youth as well as training for adults. A discussion of out-dated prevention messages (stranger danger, good touch/bad touch) and the new information that has replaced them. As well, practical safety tips on how to talk to kids and youth about their bodies, healthy relationships and personal safety.



October 28, 2019 – Nathalie Amlani, Pictonat Photography


Nathalie holds an MBA from the Rotman School of Management and is a Project Management Professional with over 15 years of experience in Financial Services. Her passion for photography grew steadily and rapidly since the completion of the Digital Photography certificate at George Brown College in 2010.  Her inspiration for family photography continues to grow as she goes through the joys of motherhood with her two kids.    




November 4, 2019 – Mavis Huntley, Smithery Style


Smithery is an e-boutique and by-appointment studio that helps women shop their shape. They curate the most flattering cuts for each body shape and model the clothes on REAL women representing different shapes and sizes. When they come in, they will be teaching us about the different shapes (no more fruit!), what to look for when you’re shopping, and stylist tips and tricks on how to dress for your shape. They’ll offer to take your measurements on the spot and will be showing us what pieces you need in your closet to create the ultimate (and EASY) mom uniform (all available for purchase on the spot).

Mavis will generously donate a gift card for Smithery’s Deep Dive Style session for one lucky SLMG winner and a friend!


November 11, 2019 – Isabella Buckley and Aly Virani, Blaney McMurty LLP


Isabella Buckley is a family law litigation lawyer and a local mom and SLMG member. Isabella’s family law practice focuses on all areas of family law, including child support, child custody and access, spousal support, matrimonial property disputes, cohabitation agreements, separation agreements and marriage contracts. Isabella will provide an overview of family law issues as well as focused discussion on the best ways to own assets (homes, cottages, inheritances, RESPs/RRSPs, businesses, etc.)  between you and your partner from a family law perspective. Isabella strives to ensure that clients are empowered with knowledge to make informed decisions when planning their future.

Aly Virani is a lawyer practising in the areas of Wills and Estates and Family Law. His discussion will center around topics including “Why one needs an Estate Plan” and important aspects of Wills, Powers of Attorney for Property and Powers of Attorney for Personal Care. Aly attentively ensures that the instructions of his clients are met, and that the loved ones they wish to benefit receive all that they are due.

Both Aly and Isabella will offer a Question and Answer period if there are any particular areas of interest within their scope of expertise. Swag and door prizes will be available.
